KETAMBE (a.k.a. GURAH) in the middle of the Gunung Leuser National Park, at the Alas River. Ketambe/Gurah has been a popular destination for jungle lovers for many years, but still very untouched by major tourism. It is the place to visit if you want to get a truly Sumatran experience. It’s the real thing!

Pak Mus Guest House welcomes you. We, Mr. And Mrs. Mus and our five children will do our best to make you happy in our cozy home stay. Our six separate wooden bungalows stand well apart from each other in a beautiful garden surrounded by the rainforest. They are complete with a front porch each. All rooms have attached bathrooms with cold-water shower (mandi) and toilets. Air-condition is not needed in this climate.

  • One bungalow has one room with 2 beds. 60.000 IDR/room
  • Three bungalows have two double rooms each. 60.000 IDR/room 
  • One bungalow has two rooms with double beds, western style toilets. 70.000 IDR/room.
  • One bungalow (ready in August 2013) has two rooms, western style toilets, hot water, grandiose view. 150.000 IDR/room

  • We serve the best of local food and some western (especially for breakfast), in a nice restaurant attached to the family house. Try our veggie soup, tempe, “rendang”, and chicken. All reasonably priced.
  • We can do your Laundry, using a washing machine.
  • We can help you arrange transportation.
  • We arrange local English-speaking guides for your jungle trekking. Our son and his friends are all well experienced and have good knowledge of the jungle. 
  • For beer pleas inquire with us a day ahead. You can also try the local fermented juice from the Sugar palm, so called “tuak”.
  • We have our own waterfall on our land.

Pak Mus Guest House is the first guest house on the right side along the road from Kutacane at the village of Balai Lutu (a.k.a. Ketambe). See map. It’s very easy to find. The bungalows are quiet and well off the main road. We try to keep both rooms and our environment clean. Pak Mus Guest House is family owned and managed.
